There have been a few albums that never impressed me when they were released but after a while, i feel them and start dancing. One example is Awilo's album 'Mondongo'.People always make requests for me to play Awilo's songs when am DJ'ing at parties etc but i don't have any Awilo cd's,i keep forgetting to buy at least one but now i am convinced that Awilo is in his own class and demands professionalism in his works.I will get this album now though it's from way back.

Which ones are you feeling at the moment? Grin

You got that right, especially West Africans. I personally don't think much of his solo albums except his first one which was just great.

I did not like his first album first album but it was massively popular in Zambia, every pub and club played that album for months so i got fed up of it,some people even translated the song into our own local language back home so they had fun.The album that really impressed me most from him is Coupe Bibamba below, everything about it was just perfect from explosive sebenes, good vocals and good sound quality!

Awilo probably fuses "TECHNO" with "SOUKOUS" better that anybody else, and his dance choreography keeps on getting better and better, in spite of it's western proclivity.

I like Karolina very much:

The other Techno/Zouk/Sex/GoGo Man I like is SAKIS

Question: Who plays lead(acoustic) guitar for Sakis -- Sounds like Daly Kimoko, or even Diblo Dibala?

Both are not anywhere near my favorite Rumba Musicians, but they craft their music/dancing quite well.

You're right,he even calls his music 'Techno Soukous'.I don't know if Awilo has an established band now,in the older albums he used musicians from other bands and session ones but they still did god jobs.

All Awilos albums that have come out have been explosive in their own right. I mean, i am not too much of his fan but his music rocks me.

Now albums that I never loved at 1st site:

1. Effrakata - I thought Bill had left Werrason and I thot Bill was making noise at the start of the Generique. But i came to like it later on and found the atalaku was Bebe Kero.

2.TH - At 1st never liked it much but when i heard Bye Bye Jullie, i gave the whole album a chance then i loved it.

3. Solola Bien - 1st, i thot it was too slow a generique and accompanying songs did not hook me. But when i heard the London Concert Solola Bien, i gave the CD a chance then i loved the album.

I am shocked.Bye Bye Julie was one song i never listen to much in JB Mpiana's album TH,then am sure this is why you seem to enjoy the hip hop flava rhumba that is coming up now.

Am also completely surprised that you never liked Solola Bien when it just came out,in my opinion, that Generique is one of the best if not the best generique in Congolese music that i have ever heard so far even with the faded solo guitar it still impresses me up to now.

U got me wrong mudala. I meant Solola Bien at ''love at first sight'' Grin

Mudala in TH, Buy Buy Julie is a master piece. Forget about everything but the combination of Biso Na Biso with JB.

It's good and not a usual song by JB Mpiana but i consider it inferior to other songs such as Laureats 2000.Anyway,let me start a poll to hear what others think.

Comrade EMO thought Bill's skills had gone down when he listened to Koffi's album Effrakata in which Bill's photocopy Kerozene is the ataluku,he later realised it was Kero and not Bill in Effrakata.

Am surprised you were initially not happy with Kibuisa Mpimpa,it impressed me the very day i got it especially that Mboka Liya was playing lead in the Generique of the album!Monde Arabe didn't make me happy too infact immediately i bought it from North London,i headed straight to a party and sold it to a friend without making a copy but after a year,i liked it and went to make a copy from my friends house. Monde Arabe to me it was bad at first hear up to taday. It has been one of Koffis worst Generiques including Force De Frappe which had BCBG Zennith solo Guitar tune in it.

In my opinion,Monde Arabe of Koffi had poor sebenes as usual but the rhumbas and overal singing by the group was just great!!!!!
