From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:-

The Funana is a mixed Portuguese and African music and dance from Santiago, Cape Verde. It is said that the lower part of the body movement is African, and the upper part Portuguese. In traditional African dances, the people dance only with the lower part of the body, and are not very good with the upper one, and the Portuguese are good in the upper part, but not as good in the lower. From the fusion resulted Funana, a very sensual and pair-dance which reminds the dances from two continents.

Funana is an accordion-based music genre.

Funana and Morna(expoente maximo de alegria e tristeza de um Cabo-verdiano) are the maximum expression of the Capeverdean joys and sadness through music.

Welcome Stéphanie.

I am trying to figure out the difference between Stephanie and Stéphanie .....?

Anyway, get to know the members (most are into Congolese Music) -- I am sure they will locate some good Cape Verde music for you.

A good person to start with is the 'Global Moderator': MWANA MBOKA -- He is pretty good at digging up video clips.

Meanwhile enjoy these videos: http://video.africanmusicforum.com , and feel very much at home in this forum.

Well thank you and hehe.. that is just another way to spell it  Wink, you know a hyphen to emphasize on the letter e. But blaaah.. Who cares, just call me Steph  Smiley

Fine fine by me! Since I am already in love with the Congolese Music (listening to Koffi as we speak hehe) and I guessed that MWANA MBOKA was the person to harass  Grin

Thanks again!!
Much appreciated!
