i'm looking for assistance in identifying this
tune about Thomas Mapfumo. i heard it on the radio about 15 years ago and recorded a good bit of it. but i never found out the song's info. here are some of the lyrics (please note that some of the lines might be out of order):
[BEGIN LYRICS]
He's a true man of Africa.
He's a true man of Africa.
...
I said the man Mr. Thomas
I said the man Mr. Thomas
...
Them ah put him in jail.
Them ah put him in jail.
...
He was singing culture, oh!
He was singing culture.
...
Because he was singing culture, culture from the motherland, Zimbabwe, what ya say?
...
I said they'll love Mr. Thomas
I said they'll love Mr. Thomas.
...
They'll love the man Mr. Thomas.
They'll love the man Mr. Thomas.
...
[END LYRICS]
sorry if i've mistaken some of the lyrics, but it's been some years since i lost the recording.
some of the lyrics might also have been in another language/dialect, but the recording is incomplete, so i'm not sure.
big up anyone who can provide assistance in identifying this tune.
peace,
barry
