Sterns Music announces the imminent release in mid May of Once Upon A Time In Senegal - the Birth Of Mbalax 1979-1981 Etoile De Dakar
feat. Youssou Ndour.

Without Étoile de Dakar there would be no Youssou N’Dour. It was the band from which he exploded; the band that, for three amazingly fertile years, was his only life.

This brief but vital moment in time  is captured in these 23 tracks selected from the six albums they recorded between 1979 and 1981. Several have never been released outside of Senegal before, and the booklet includes candid, previously unseen photographs and detailed notes.
