Lutumba Simaro Massiya Ndomanueno was a few years older than luambo makiadi franco.

He first joined OK JAZZ in 1961, by 1963 he had joined as a permanent member. He made his reputation as a COMPOSER,, and later become vice president of the group TP OK JAZZ. He was one of the TP OK JAZZ group members that were jailed at Makala prison 1n 1978 over songs that were perceived OBSCENE by the then attorney general Kendo wa Dongo

He is a guitarist, never sings though i heard him once.

But what made him a star or the name "the silent force"?

He wrote  songs that become HITS and the singers who sang the songs become HEROs and IDOLS.

To day on this review we will look at song in depth, its message, what inspired Lutumba to compose that "hit" and the singer who had the rare opportunity to sing it. One of the criterion used to select the singers, "was their MONGONGO (VOICE). Hence as you enjoy the lutumba songs appreciate the voices too.

LUTUMBA SONG REVIEW "EAU BENITE (HOLLY WATER)"

This Simaro Composition was done just after luambo's death.

It talks about a man's last words to a cheating wife, before he sends her away from his home to marry her new lover.

"He tells her to behave where she is going, she has his permission and blessings to marry the new lover. The husband was tired of seeing her misbehaving.

The husband says " SOKI MUANA ALINGI ASIMBA MOTO BOTIKA YE ASIMBA MOKOLO AKO ZIKA AKOYEBA" (If a child wants to touch and play with fire let him/her do so for the day he is burnt he will know what fire is)

Last time i saw you with him, when you saw me you dropped your face and you started to cry."

you have one heart, how can you love the two of us at the same time, where in your heart will you put me when you only have one room in that heart which is already taken up by the new man.

"Dry the tears from your eyes, remove your hand from your cheek, dont cry for me but you should cry for sins
I dont want you touching my body again, for your hands are FULL of the BLOOD, the blood from my heart, the heart you pierced with your INFIDELITY, GO to the PRIEST (FATHER), so that the priest washes your HANDS with EAU BENITE HOLLY WATER.

He also advises the former wife not to practice INFIDELITY in her new man's home because if she did that he will chase her too and if she made that error of returning to her former husband's home she wud find the gate shut with vivous dogs by the gate.Bana imbwa whoooooooo

He poetically says "if you went to garden of ROSES you pick one, evetually lose interest in it, do not be quick in throwing it away for if who went back to the garden who might discover that your Rose flower was the last in the garden was, for you wud regret as there is no more rose flower   Patrick mangasa.

The song was a sroke of genius and will for ever be looked upon as such, the singer was madilu system

But why the title "HOLLY WATER"

Lutumba is Catholic hence the idea of a catholic father washing the blood stained hands of the lady with holly water.

LISTEN TO THE SONG AND POST YOUR REPLIES AM WAITING FOR THEM

Next review will be MABELE singer by sam mangwana
