I appreciate DavidN's intentions to nurture the 'good' labels that are putting resources into digging up old gems ... that protective approach assumes that posting for free download harms CD sales ... in my case that assumption does not hold .. thank you Ibiza for introducing me to some great music I was not aware of ... as a collector I will be buying some of those CDs ... my monthly spend on legal CDs has gone up since I started downloading ... chris a s africa

Ibiza:
I do not intend to offend you or anyone else. Please accept my apology if I have offended you.
I am shocked by how much music is pirated these days and I know that it does indeed hurt the music industry. Not everyone is like Chris A....I wish they were! Like I said, if it's out of print post away as far as I'm concerned. And that's a personal opinion. I don't represent any musician or publisher.
So here is something I will share with you: go to my blog at www.ambiancecongo.blogspot.com
for a gem. I've never done that before and I'll probably never do it again, but the demand has been too overwhelming to ignore.
Hope you like it.

Ibiza,

Thanks so much for all of your special contributions...

Just one question though... What does Carla Bruni have to do with African music?

   Excuse my ignorance

   Thanks again!!!

Thanks a lot for "Affaire Mougoye" that I'm listening during writing you.
You see David, thanks to you I want more of this artist ! There is noting on amazon.fr
Will see in my favorite African music shop, but I've got the feeling that it's going to be hard for me to find CD's of Mavuela Somo.

Thanks to internet I discover a lot of unknown (for me) artists, and I do buy all what I like.
In other words, I do have the cds of all what I did share here.

But don't worry, I do also understand your point of view, just putting me into the shoes of an artist.....hum I'm sure I woulnd't like the piracy either.

I just discover a good way for the artist to let the people know his work.

Henry Fiol is a "salsero" that I love. I bought a lot of his albums.
Through internet I found out that there was a new album (2008).....but coudn't find it to buy it !!!!
You know why ? Because it's not to sale, it is to download in his site :
Code:
http://www.henryfiol.com
.
You won't beleive me, but as I'm a collectionist I want that album "physically", but I can't ;-(((

Will let you know if I find an/some albums of Mavuela Somo Wink))

Thanks again for the one you gave on your blog.

I feel the same way as Ibiza about buying the CDs - yes, there are many that I download pirate-wise and listen to once, but will not buy ... and probably will not listen again ... but if/when - for example - I see Cameyenne Sofa available to buy at a shop, I will buy the original CDs for my collection. Like Henry Fiol - perhaps the industry has to think about new ways of operating ... maybe there are lots more people with habits like Ibiza and myself that the record industry could encourage to buy more than we already do? Thanks for all the great music good people
