JB Mpiana has once again postponed the release of his third solo album 'Chemin De Fer' to 2008 but to keep his promise of releasing an album every year like his competitors,he will release a 'maxi single' to be named later and he says he has balanced the use of his two bands BCBG and PPU.A maxi single is normally an album with about 4 to 5 songs and i still believe it's gonna be explosive, here is a lil bit of what it's gonna sound like.

The only thing am happy about is JB will be releasing every YR coz poeple even those outside Kin (Zambie) complain about this. But his habit of also postponing, makes others think he chickens out.

I have noticed that JB does not compromise on the quality of his solo albums,he wants to use Paris studios but because of travel restrictions imposed on his band,he is always given limited visas and has to depend on South African(album Anti Terro) or British studios(album Kipe Ya Yo) which he has stated his not satisfied with probably due to communication problems with Studio Staff ie Sound Engineers etc.The best Congolese/French composers and arrangers he has used in older albums are in Paris and Belgium so he's in a dilema, things are easing up and soon we hope he will be able to get visas for the whole band so they can travel to Paris and Belgium.

He's had travel problems since the release of the album TH in the early 2000's because of accusations of humna trafficking which saw Papa Wemba spend time in jail and have his assets taken from him,JB and Papa Wemba are fond of having a very number of staff and some of them are believed not to have returned after concerts etc because of poor management that's why Werra carries the passports himself, just last December,JB lost about 5 people when he came to U.K,they all disappeared ie 3 dancers and 2 guitarists so authorities here don't like that.

I always look forward to a new JB CD. It takes the guy forever to come out with a disc, but I usually like the product, Even if it's not a great disc it's at least a good disc. I used to look forward to a new CD from Koffi, but not any more, I don't think. He has disappointed the heck out of me in recent years. My old LPs of his are still trreasured.

I always wonder which albums people refer to when they say this.
Which ones were the best albums of Koffi's??

Ngounda, Ngobila, records like those. Songs Lady Bo and the like.
I still love the Haute de Gamme CD and I am still amazed at the ground-breaking work that Quartier Latin did right before the Wenges hit the scene.
