African Music

I always here people say they went to a party and were playing 'African Music' (making it sound like its a Genre like Mozart, RnB, Hip Hop, Jazz, etc), and I wonder what they mean by that. What do we mean or do they mean when they say 'African music'?  Maybe it's a stupid question, maybe not

You could call Rap American Music. Same thing, Soukous is African music and so is African Rumba or even African Jazz.
